Liverpool may have dropped out of the Champions League after just one year back, but they could face a tough test in the Europa League next season too.
Brendan Rodgers’ side are almost certain to be seeded in pot 2 when the draw takes place in Monaco on August 28th, meaning they will draw one of Schalke, Napoli, Villarreal, Marseille, Dnipro, Braga, Fiorentina, most likely along with Athletic Bilbao and Borussia Dortmund plus two teams from Champions League qualifying – as reported by ESPNFC.
The Reds’ exact possible opponents won’t be known until the Champions League qualifiers take place in August.
The Reds could move into pot one, but they’d need three of Dortmund, Bilbao, Lazio, Sporting Lisbon and CSKA Moscow to lose their Champions League qualifiers.
Tottenham, meanwhile, are guaranteed to be one of the top seeds in the group stages, along with Schalke, Napoli, Villarreal, Marseille, Dnipro, Braga and Fiorentina.
