Liverpool academy stars Lloyd Jones and Jordan Williams will spend the 2015/16 season on loan in League One, the club have confirmed.

Jones, a strong 19-year-old centre-back, will join recently relegated side Blackpool, having spent last season on loan with Cheltenham Town and Accrington Stanley.

The Plymouth-born defender has been a regular in Michael Beale’s under-21s side.

With his route to the first team blocked by Martin Skrtel, Mamadou Sakho, Kolo Toure, Dejan Lovren and Tiago Ilori, among others, a spell with Blackpool is suited to aid his development.

Meanwhile, Williams has joined fellow League One outfit Swindon Town.

Also 19, Williams can play in a variety of positions, and made his first-team debut last September during the Reds’ League Cup victory over Middlesbrough.

He was joined by hotly tipped young talent Jordan Rossiter for that clash, and manager Brendan Rodgers said that this appearances was “a step towards them playing for the first-team regularly.”

Williams joined Notts County on loan in the second half of last season, and is expected to be joined at Swindon by fellow youngsters Ryan Kent and Kevin Stewart.
