Liverpool scheduled to play two pre-season games in two days

After Liverpool announced a pre-season friendly against League One Swindon Town, they now have two friendlies scheduled for the day after each other.

On Monday The Reds announced the friendly against Swindon, to be played on Sunday, August 2nd (4pm) – which is less than 24 hours after their scheduled match in Helsinki on Saturday August 1st (5.30pm).

Neither match is stated as being a reserve/under-21s fixture and are listed among the first-team fixtures.

Presumably there will either be a change in date for the Helsinki match, or one will be revealed as being for a under-21s XI.

Alternatively, but very strangely, they could play the two games as scheduled, with a different XI starting in each. It would still seem a bit odd though.

Last summer the club played eight pre-season friendlies, this year they had only five scheduled before the Swindon one was arranged.

Liverpool loaned youngsters Jordan Williams and Kevin Stewart to Swindon last week, with Ryan Kent expected to join them once he returns from the Reds’ pre-season tour of Asia and Australia.
