Report: Reds not in for Barcelona’s Adama Traore

Reports linking Barcelona forward Adam Traore with a move to Liverpool are wide of the mark, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Rumours emanating in Spain on Monday evening claimed the 19-year-old was set to undergo a medical with the Reds, but the Pearce says he will join Stoke or Aston Villa instead.

“Liverpool are not in the race to sign Barcelona winger Adama Traore,” he writes.

“Traore, who has represented Spain at under-19 level, is likely to move to the Premier League over the coming days, but either Stoke City or Aston Villa is likely to be destination.

Quite whether Liverpool needed another forward in the first place is debatable, with the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Adam Lallana, Jordon Ibe and Lazar Markovic already battling for a starting berth.

The Mirror indicate that Liverpool were interested in Traore, but Liverpool denied talks over a move took place.

Left-back remains an area that could be improved in, although Brendan Rodgers’ apparent faith in Joe Gomez in the role could mean no more business is done.

Still, left-back remains the only position in which Liverpool may strengthen in the remaining weeks of the transfer window. PSG’s Lucas Digne remains a possibility.
