The German discussed his improving squad options with the returns of Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho, while also divulging some positive news on Mamadou Sakho’s recovery from a knee injury.

Klopp commended Tony Pulis’ successful brand of direct, physical football, stressing that the Reds would need to work around West Brom‘s threat from set pieces.

Predictably queried as to the wellbeing of Daniel Sturridge, Klopp explained that the club are tailoring his training regime to improve his fitness record.

“We have to train with him, we have to make sessions with him as soon as he’s prepared to,” he explained.

“At the moment he trains in aerobic things, it’s important to give him a better base than before.”

Sunday’s clash should come too soon for the striker, however, but Jordon Ibe is in line for selection after missing Thursday night’s draw with FC Sion through illness.
