After naming an inexperienced side for Friday night’s FA Cup tie away to Exeter, Klopp has rung the changes on the Reds’ return to the Premier League.

This includes a starting role for Jordan Henderson, returning from a heel injury to captain his side.

Replacing the shaky Adam Bogdan in goal is Simon Mignolet, with the Belgian reverting to his role as Klopp’s first choice, having provisionally agreed a new five-and-a-half year contract.

Ahead of Mignolet, a back four of Nathaniel Clyne, Kolo Toure, Mamadou Sakho and Alberto Moreno provide Liverpool with a welcome resolve in defence.

Sakho was struggling with a knee injury in the buildup to this Anfield encounter but was deemed fit to start, having been determined to feature.

Joining Henderson in midfield are James Milner and Emre Can, with the latter having celebrated his 22nd birthday on Tuesday.

Jordon Ibe also makes his return from injury as part of a fluid forward three that also includes Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino.

New signing Steven Caulker has to make do with a place on Klopp’s substitutes’ bench, but provides ample cover at centre-back, with question marks over the fitness of both Toure and Sakho.

Caulker will make himself comfortable alongside returning loanee Danny Ward, Brad Smith, Lucas Leiva, Joe Allen, Joao Carlos Teixeira and Christian Benteke.

Taking on a strong Arsenal side, Klopp will be hoping his reinvigorated Reds can claim another big win over their top-four rivals, having already vanquished Chelsea, Manchester City and Leicester City in his three months on Merseyside.
