Having won the FA Cup seven times, Liverpool have enjoyed their fair share of memorable moments in English football’s most famous cup competition.
In the video above, John and Paul from Redmen TV pick their top five Liverpool moments in the FA Cup, with former heroes Ian St. John, Bruce Grobbelaar, Ian Rush, Michael Owen and Steven Gerrard all featuring.
John and Paul pick Gerrard’s wonder strike form 40 yards against West Ham United in the 2006 FA Cup Final as their top moment and it’s hard to beat that.
2006 was the last time Liverpool won the competition and they begin their journey for the 2015/16 season against Exeter City on Friday night.
Second choice in the Redmen’s top five is Michael Owen’s winning goal in the 2001 final, including his very un-Owen-like forward flip celebration. Liverpool went on to win a cup treble that season – something which is still possible this season with Jurgen Klopp’s squad competing in all competitions and taking a 1-0 lead into their League Cup semi-final against Stoke City.
