Video: Jon Flanagan on Klopp: “Brilliant, full throttle, genuine… a bit crazy!”

Jon Flanagan interviewed this week about Jurgen Klopp – describing the charismatic German just the way you would expect!

“He’s brilliant, he’s full throttle,” says Flanagan. “He’s a genuine guy and his training is great each day and as you have seen on the sideline he is a bit crazy.

“He has got a great sense of humour and the two lads he has brought with him.

“It is great for us lads to have a laugh, but when it is serious, it is serious.”

Flanagan, who was nicknamed Scouse Cafu after his goal at White Hart Lane in 2013/14, was asked about the moniker and meeting the Brazilian legend.

“That was great, looking up to a great like Cafu and for him to come over and watch and meet him personally was brilliant,” he said.

“Cafu is just a great player and to finally meet him was just fantastic.

“He obviously tweeted about me that all the fans had been calling me that (Scouse Cafu) and he obviously cracked on.

“I didn’t know he was coming over to watch the game and we were having a team meal and he ended up coming in before the Newcastle game.”

Flanagan last month made his comeback after 19 months out with knee problems, but faces a fight for his future at Liverpool.

Klopp omitted the 23-year-old from his Europa League squad, explaining the recovery time the local full-back needs after so long on the sidelines.

Flanagan’s contract expires this summer, putting his long-term future in doubt.
