There were some fantastic photograph opportunities throughout as Liverpool overcame Villarreal 3-0 at Anfield on Thursday night to book a place in the Europa League final.
Earlier in the evening fans lined the pavements of Anfield Road to welcome the team bus to the ground, forming a sea of red and white flags and banners.
Inside the ground supporters then held up a mosaic paying tribute to the Hillsborough victims – this being Liverpool’s first home game since the recent inquest verdicts.
A poignant, loud and passionate You’ll Never Walk Alone rung around the ground as the teams came out, Jurgen Klopp‘s side trailing 1-0 to the Spaniards from the first leg a week ago.
Daniel Sturridge scrambled the ball into the net off Villarreal defender Bruno Soriano for a seventh minute opener to level the tie at 1-1.
Sturridge later got his goal to double Liverpool’s lead on the night and edge the Reds closer to the final, before Adam Lallana made sure of the 3-1 aggregate victory late on.
Klopp takes his Liverpool side to face Sevilla in the final in Basel on Wednesday, 18th May with silverware and Champions League qualification at stake for the winner.
