“As far as I know, there’s no offer” – Coutinho comments on PSG rumours

Philippe Coutinho says he is unaware of any offer from Paris Saint-Germain, despite strong rumours linking him with a move to the Ligue 1 giants.

Reports in Spain earlier in the week suggested that PSG and Barcelona were both battling to sign the 23-year-old this summer, with the former supposedly seeing a €30 million bid rejected.

Coutinho says that, as far as he is aware, there has been no offer for him to date, and that his focus is very much on his current Copa America Centenario campaign with Brazil.

“As far as I know, there’s no offer,” said Coutinho.

“I’m here with the national team, this subject is for my representatives.

“More important for me is to be here, focused on the national team and having a good tournament. That’s where my head is.”

Liverpool’s dazzling attacking talisman enjoyed a memorable performance for Brazil against Haiti on Wednesday night – early hours of the morning in the UK – as the Selecao crushed their opponents 7-1 in Orlando.

Coutinho scored a hat-trick for his side – his first for his country – with two of his goals superb long-range efforts.

His influential display may not actually be great news for Liverpool, with the likes of PSG and Barcelona sure to be even more enamoured with him now.

The hope is that Coutinho commits his long-term future to the Reds, but he may struggle to decline an offer from one of Europe’s footballing powerhouses.

Coutinho enjoyed his best goalscoring campaign last season, scoring 12 goals and winning the Reds’ player of the year award for a second successive year.

Liverpool will be keen not to lose another star player, after losing Raheem Sterling, Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard in recent years.
