Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli ‘just needs right opportunity’, says his agent

Mario Balotelli’s agent insists it is “never too late” for the Liverpool striker as he looks to find a way out of Anfield.

Mino Raiola has been tasked with finding a destination for the 25-year-old Italy international, who has not travelled with the Reds’ squad to the United States after being told by manager Jurgen Klopp he has no future at the club.

“In life it’s never too late,” Raiola told Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

“If you think Mario makes me despair, you’re wrong because his life has improved a lot and now he just needs the right opportunity.

“Where will he go? I’m saying nothing. Let’s see what happens.

“I won’t close the door on any solution. That goes for Mario and all my players.

“I listen to what is offered to me and then I decide along with them.”

Balotelli returned to pre-season training at the beginning of July, but out of Klopp’s plans for 2016/17, he has so far struggled to find a new club.

Crotone, Sampdoria, Fiorentina and a host of Chinese Super League sides have all been mooted as possible destinations, with no development as we head into the fourth week of the summer transfer window.

Balotelli’s former Italy team-mate, Andrea Pirlo, offered the striker some sage advice earlier in July, saying “he needs to pick his next club carefully.”

“If he has two or three good seasons at his next club, he will still only be 28 and could join one of the top clubs in Europe.

“I don’t have any advice for him anymore, he knows the qualities that he has.

“From this point, it’s up to Mario.”
