Confirmed: Andre Wisdom joins Red Bull Salzburg on season loan

Perennial Liverpool loanee Andre Wisdom has joined Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg on loan for the 2016/17 season.

It’s the 23-year-old’s fourth consecutive season out on loan, having spent campaigns with Derby County, West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City.

Capable of playing at right-back or centre-back, Wisdom enjoyed a successful time at Derby in 2013/14 but his spells in the Premier League with West Brom and Norwich were pretty unsuccessful – starting just 10 league games last season.

His last competitive appearance for Liverpool was in September 2013. Former boss Brendan Rodgers, who gave him his debut at Anfield, was previously linked with a move to take Wisdom to Celtic this summer.

Upong his move, Wisdom said: “I know this club wants to win titles and has big ambitions in the Europa League to get as far as possible.”

Widsom is the 11th player to head on loan this summer, joining Danny Ward (Huddersfield Town), Ryan Fulton (Chesterfield), Adam Bogdan (Wigan Athletic), Ryan Kent (Barnsley), Jack Dunn (Morecambe – 6 months), Allan Rodrigues (Hertha Berlin), Jon Flanagan (Burnley), Lloyd Jones (Swindon Town), Sam Hart (Port Vale) and Taiwo Awoniyi (NEC Nijmegen).

Academy midfielder Cameron Brannagan and right-back Connor Randall could also complete temporary moves away before the transfer window closes this evening.
