Video: Liverpool’s 10 best Premier League wins at Anfield

Liverpool could add another famous Anfield victory as they welcome Leicester City to Merseyside for their Premier League clash.

The Reds take on Claudio Ranieri’s champions at Anfield in the first clash since 8,712 seats were added to the Main Stand this summer, hoping to mark the occasion with a win.

Jurgen Klopp‘s side have so far taken four points from three away games this season, but turning out in front of their biggest home crowd since 1977 should provide the inspiration to push for victory.

This would be just one of a multitude of triumphs at Anfield since the Premier League‘s inception in 1992, as Liverpool recalled with a video package ahead of Saturday’s 5.30pm kickoff (BST).

Counting down Liverpool’s 10 best Premier League wins at home, the club run through 2009’s 5-0 win over Aston Villa, a 2-0 win over Manchester United in 2001 and the 3-1 victory over the Red Devils in 2011.

The latter was inspired by Luis Suarez and executed by Dirk Kuyt, who scored a hat-trick composed of goals from inside the six-yard box.

Kuyt is among a number of illustrious names to feature goals in the top 10, along with Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler, Albert Riera, Peter Crouch and Stan Collymore among others.

Three wins from 2013/14’s title-challenging season feature in the top four, with the Reds’ 3-2 victory over Manchester City, the 4-0 Merseyside derby triumph and the sensational 5-1 mauling of Arsenal.

Taking pride of place, naturally, is Liverpool’s incredible 4-3 win over Newcastle United in 1996, with Collymore’s late, late strike etched into the history of the club in the English top flight.

Saturday could provide another fond memory, as Klopp and his Reds look to entertain the new-look Anfield.
