Nathaniel Clyne reveals Liverpool’s three fastest players

Nathaniel Clyne has revealed who the three quickest players at Liverpool are currently, claiming he is very much in the mix.

The Reds have made a thrilling start to their Premier League campaign, with Jurgen Klopp‘s side producing some outstanding attack-minded performances.

The pace at which Liverpool have played has been key to their success, with the signing of Sadio Mane adding an extra dimension in that respect.

Clyne says the flying winger is among the fastest players at Klopp’s disposal, along with himself, and hailed the 24-year-old’s impact, along with his fellow attackers.

“Me and him in a race? That would be tough and a close one,” Clyne told Goal.

“I have to say, he is faster, definitely when he is on the ball anyway. The top three are Sadio, then me and then Alberto [Moreno].

“He (Mane) is quality, he always wants the ball.

“You can see when he gets the ball that he is always looking forward and his first intention is to get at the defence and cause problems. You can see that he has done that.

“He has been great, he has provided assists and he has scored goals. He is on fire at the moment. There’s so much quality around the squad, you look around the dressing room at the players we have got, and we have so much ability.

“It is a joy to watch Phil Coutinho, Mane, [Daniel] Sturridge, [Adam] Lallana and [Roberto] Firmino. They are all playing well and it is going well.

“We are getting goals from all over the pitch and even [James] Milner is scoring – despite playing at left back!

Clyne was speaking after Mane came in 39th place in Goal’s annual countdown of the top 50 footballers in the world.

It has certainly been a wonderful start to life at Liverpool for the Senegal international, with his superb end product ensuring he is the Reds’ current top scorer in the Premier League in 2016/17 with six goals.

Klopp was always a keen admirer of Mane’s, having once tried to sign him for Borussia Dortmund while the forward was at Salzburg, and he already looks one of the signings of the summer.
