Liverpool hit Watford for six as they continued their fine run of form with yet another win at Anfield in the Premier League.

The Reds welcome Walter Mazzarri’s side to Merseyside in their pursuit of a fourth consecutive victory and the 12th game in a remarkable unbeaten run.

Jurgen Klopp named Lucas Leiva and James Milner in his starting lineup, with Dejan Lovren and Alberto Moreno dropping out, while Emre Can, Adam Lallana, Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino were poised to swarm in attack.

Liverpool started strongly, with Lucas, Coutinho and Firmino all going close, but it took until the 28th minute to beat Heurelho Gomes, with Mane heading home from a Coutinho cross.

Coutinho then made it 2-0 with a fine goal of his own, drilling low past Gomes, with the Hornets goalkeeper withdrawn due to injury in the aftermath.

Gomes’ replacement, Costel Pantilimon, didn’t even make it to half-time before conceding, with Can heading in at the far post following a fine cross from Lallana.

Firmino and Mane scored a quickfire double after the break, both tapping in from close range within minutes of each other.

Though Daryl Janmaat struck to deny Loris Karius a clean sheet, Georginio Wijnaldum had the final word, hitting his first goal in a Liverpool shirt.

The Reds are now top of the Premier League having taken 26 points from 11 games, with Southampton (A), Sunderland (H) and Bournemouth (A) their next three league outings.
