Liverpool are set to round off 2016 with a home clash with Manchester City on New Year’s Eve, looking to cap an impressive year.

The last 12 months have seen Jurgen Klopp truly stamp his authority of Merseyside, and the German has overseen a number of excellent performances from the Reds.

Ahead of Liverpool’s final game of the year, the club released a package of their top 10 games of 2016.

Coming in at No. 10 is January’s 3-3 draw with Arsenal, an Anfield showcase that saw Roberto Firmino come to the fore, scoring twice, before Joe Allen netted a late, late equaliser.

No. 9 is the Reds’ 2-1 win away to Chelsea in September, marked by a sensational long-range strike from Jordan Henderson.

Next up is November’s 6-1 victory over Watford, one of a number of exceptional Anfield displays this season, while No. 7 is December’s dramatic Merseyside derby win away to Everton.

March’s 3-0 win at home to City comes in at No. 6, while September’s 4-1 victory over Premier League champions Leicester takes No. 5.

Another clash with the Toffees stands at No. 4, with April’s 4-0 triumph at Anfield serving up Klopp’s first taste of the city derby, and proving an excellent one at that.

The 4-3 opening day win away to Arsenal is No. 3, while another rollercoaster ride follows that, with January’s 5-4 victory at Norwich City in at No. 2.

Unsurprisingly, given the context, the manner of the win and the resulting celebrations, No. 1 is April’s 4-3 comeback win at home to Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League.

Liverpool have enjoyed some great results under Klopp in 2016, but he will be hoping for more success at the end of the road in 2017.
