Liverpool sealed a crucial 3-1 win over Arsenal on Saturday evening, as they recovered from the woeful defeat to Leicester City.
The Reds were superb against their top-four rivals, with Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum all finding the net.
There were excellent individual performances everywhere you looked, but the team as a whole looked back to its devastating best.
Firmino’s close-range finish gave Liverpool an early lead, with the Brazilian finishing well after typically industrious work by Mane.
Mane was the Reds’ standout player on a great night at Anfield, with the flying forward bordering on unplayable with his pace, trickery and ruthless end product.
With nerves jangling after Danny Welbeck pulled a goal back, a delightful sweeping move was finished off by the excellent Wijnaldum. He has now scored at home to Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City this season.
Jurgen Klopp sped down the touchline when Wijnaldum scored, celebrating with an equally overjoyed supporter in the process.
The scenes were understandably jubilant at the final whistle, with Klopp embracing with his players and lapping up the applause.
The win moves Liverpool into third-place in the Premier League table, giving their chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League a huge boost.
Attention now turns to next Sunday’s visit of Burnley, with a similar level of performance required.
