Video: Inside Steven Gerrard’s return to Anfield for Liverpool Legends clash

Liverpool legends played out an entertaining game with Real Madrid over the weekend, with a Steven Gerrard-inspired Reds side winning 4-3.

Anfield hosted a thoroughly enjoyable game on Saturday lunchtime, with some fantastic names on show for both sides, and a young crowd drinking in the action.

The likes of Jamie Carragher, Robbie Fowler, Roberto Carlos and Luis Figo all played their part, as the adoring public got to see some of their former favourites on show.

It was Gerrard who stole the limelight, however—something he made a habit out of doing during an incredible 17-year Liverpool career—as he produced a superb individual display.

The 36-year-old played a key role in the Reds’ first three goals, assisting Michael Owen and John Aldridge, before winning a penalty that Fowler converted.

Having rattled the crossbar with a trademark effort, Gerrard finally found the net himself in the second half, volleying home emphatically in front of the Kop.

Behind-the-scenes footage of the day has now been released, courtesy of Liverpool FC’s YouTube channel, and it makes for some fascinating viewing.

Whether it be the players gearing themselves up for the match in the dressing room, all the pre-match, half-time and post-match action from the tunnel or the respects shown to the late Ronnie Moran, it is 13 minutes of must-see footage for any Red.
