Liverpool defender Fabio Aurelio has expressed his disappointment with Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Middlesbrough, which all but fully put Liverpool out of this season’s Premier League title race.

The Brazilian left-back played the full ninety minutes as the Reds slumped at the Riverside and admits it was a fantastic opportunity missed.

He told the club’s official web site, “We are very disappointed because we felt we had enough chances to win the game in the first half.

“I thought we started really well. We kept the ball and had good opportunities but we couldn’t score, and when that happens there is always the chance the opposition can score.

“We will still keep on fighting because we know in football that anything can happen. We won’t give up and we will now try to win every game.”

Aurelio added that Tuesday night’s clash at home to Sunderland is a must-win to bounce back from defeat. He continued, “We lost a great opportunity to try to get closer to Manchester United but we must bounce back now and beat Sunderland at Anfield on Tuesday night.”
