The news of Sami Hyypia‘s departure from Anfield came just days after it was announced that Danish centre-back Daniel Agger has agreed a new four year deal with the club to keep him on Merseyside until 2014.
Hyypia will leave the Reds at the end of the season after ten years of service, agreeing terms and a medical with German club Bayer Leverkusen.
But Agger, who has put to bed months of uncertainty about his future, says he is delighted to be a part of Rafa Benitez‘s long term plans.
He says, “We are close now and of course I would be happy to stay at Liverpool because it is what I’ve been working for for the last few years.”
“It’s important as a player to have the faith of your manager because if you don’t have that then you’re probably not at the right club.”
