The first This Is Anfield Fans’ Derby will take place on the opening day of the season, Saturday August 19th, at Stanley Park against fellow Everton fans’ site NSNO.co.uk. Kick off will be (approximately) 10am, finishing prior to the real Reds taking on Sheffield United at Bramhall Lane.
The match will be played between the two opposing Merseyside fans sites, with proceeds from players and fans going to two pertinent charities involved with each club; The Hillsborough Justice Campaign and the Everton Former Players Foundation.
Organisers Josh Smith hopes the event can become a regular event, either at the start of each season or prior to each Merseyside derby throughout the season.
Both fans sites have been busy on their forums gathering together players and fans alike. If you would like to get involved for This Is Anfield click here. We are in particular looking for a good goalkeeper and a left midfielder!
We are also looking for any referee who would like to volunteer to officiate the two sides, if so please post in the relevant thread linked above, or email mulla@thisisanfield.com.
