Dear oh dear, the chavs beat us so badly on Wednesday that even I’ve got bruises! In fairness they played great, probably the best I’ve ever seen them play and they deserved the win but that said, I don’t think we did ourselves any favours with our display. Considering how well we’ve played in recent games and the confidence we appeared to have going into this one, our performance left me as baffled as Adam on Mother’s Day!
Everything seemed to be going well for us initially as we pushed forward with a purpose and got the early breakthrough after some great build-up play was finished off superbly by Torres. As we look back at the game now in hindsight it appears that our problem may have been that we scored too early. Once we got the lead we sat back a little with the intention presumably to soak up some of their pressure and pick them off on the counter.
That seemed to be a pretty good tactic and we did manage to create another couple of half-chances that might have allowed us to extend our lead. The problem was that we weren’t defending well. They were getting at our defence too easily and had a few good chances to score even before they got the equaliser. They looked dangerous everytime they came forward and seemed to grow in confidence where as we began to look more and more nervy and unsure, particularly in defence.
You could see their equaliser coming long before our poorly defended corner handed it to them and I was relieved to hear the half-time whistle. I was hoping the break might give us a chance to sort ourselves out for the second half and we did start the half more brightly but it wasn’t long before more sloppiness at the back allowed them to score a second and then a third, in fact we were very lucky that they didn’t score more.
With plenty of time on the clock and shooting into The Kop, you hoped that we might rally ourselves and score at least one goal to improve our faint chances in the second leg but too many heads had dropped in our team and we were well beaten long before the final whistle. Losing to the chavs was bad enough but I thought the manner of our performance on the night was the most disappointing thing of all and I’m sure the manager feels the same way.
Even when results haven’t gone well for us in the past, I have always been impressed by the grit and determination of our side but we saw little of that character on Wednesday. We had so many passengers in our team on the night that I thought we had done a sponsorship deal with British Rail! Riera has played very well recently but was very poor on the night and did little to trouble their makeshift right-back. Aurelio was also below par and error-prone as was a lot of our defensive play, in fact at times it seemed that we were employing our famous doughnut defence, the one with the big hole in the middle!
As he has taken a lot of unfair stick this season I’d like to be kinder to Lucas and the truth is he wasn’t our worst player on the night but I was nervous every time he got the ball and I just thought he looked a little out of his depth and we really badly missed Mascherano. Even Gerrard by his own brilliant standards was virtually anonymous although we now know he was carrying an injury. Of the rest I thought Pepe did well, Alonso did his best as did Arbeloa and Torres did well in the first half but had little to work with in the second.
The problem for us now is that we have to somehow get this result and performance out of our system and get back on track against Blackburn at Anfield tomorrow. The defeat against the chavs was bad enough but if we slip up in this game as well it will only make a bad situation infinitely worse. In the circumstances, Carra has called this the most important league game in his career and its easy see to why.
While the odds are still well and truly with the mancs in terms of the Premiership this is still the best chance we’ve had since our league drought began and certainly the best in Carra’s career. A win will put us back on top with 6 games to go for at least a couple hours depending on how the mancs get on at Sunderland but a defeat would be a disaster.
It won’t be easy because we know Fergiescum’s mate Allardyce will try to get his team to kick their way through us and will no doubt be sent a magnum of champagne from his buddy if they are successful. If we play anything like we can then we should have no trouble but if half of our team doesn’t turn up like the other night then we could have problems.
I would normally think that the players wouldn’t need any motivation to go out and do their stuff in this one but I thought the same ahead of Wednesday’s game and that didn’t turn out too well. The other complication is Gerrard’s injury and whether he’ll be available, so Rafa has his work cut out to lift the players and mastermind a victory. As ever, I’m optimistic and I’ll predict a 3-1 victory for The Reds and hope that Sunderland can do something against the mancs.
We also have another £20 voucher available for you to buy one or two of those great t-shirts from the good people at Soccerprint T-Shirts . So using the same format as last time, predict the time of the first goal, the score-line and the goalscorers and post it in the comments section to be in with a chance to win. Good luck everybody and a Happy Easter weekend to you all.

In my view, the substitute Dossena was really poor against Chelsea. He looked really shaky and missed collecting the pass once or twice, which was a big demotivater in those circumstances.
Just hope Sam Allardyce shuts his trap up after the game and Liverpool keep the title race going on.Wouldn’t mind seeing Newcastle United win the title but Man U! I really didn’t understand what Sam said earlier about the game with Liverpool and the nonsense against Rafa.
Also in the midweek,Gerrard was very well marked by Essien and I read a stat somewhere that he could only make two clear passes to Torres in the whole game!
As for the prediction,I would predict a 2-1 win for Liverpool. The first to score would be Kuyt in the 34th minute.

I can’t say I necessarily agree with your assessment Gerry.
I thought the first half was a pretty even contest and could have gone either way.
Yes the Chavs had and missed a few, (and maybe their’s were more clear-cut opportunities,) but then so did we!
I didn’t “see the goal coming” when they equalized, and it was certainly bad timing going into half-time.
And I didn’t “see the goal coming” whent hey scored the 2nd realy. But again, very bad timing.
I would agree that you could see the 3rd coming a mile off (though Malouda was offside) but at that point, the Chavs were well in control and as you pointed out, heads had dropped at that point (players believeing their own press/hype???) and it was all over bar the singing of YNWA despite the defeat!!! (lets see Mancs do that!)
All will be well and normal service restored on Saturday, as we thump Blackburn 4-1 (he reiterates sheepishly for those that read my final comment in the last blog :0 )
The we’ll get an early goal and put the shits up every Chav on the planet and yet another glorious European Night will be ours.
Could be blind optimistm… I could be just a staunch red who will never say die! (you decide)

This season has been incredible for the amounts of highs and lows, like Wednesday night, Saturday’s game at Villa, Scum vs Villa.
Big effort required against big fat ugly Sam’s outfit tomorrow but we will do it.
Too many of our players did not perform on Wednesday and I have never been convinced by Skertel – hopefully he will prove me wrong. A lot of long ball is played in the British game and you need a big stopper ala Sammy and we did not have it and Drogba cuased all kinds of problems.
It’s not a criticism but in the first half it was very noticable that our right wing of Arby and Kuyt started really well but everytime we went down the opposite flank, Aureilo and Riera struggled big time.

reds win 2:0, first goal 9 min. absolutely essential to win this game.
it is like istanbul at half time. i bet on tuesday rafa will send out the team telling them to get a goal and we are back in it. we are capable of scoring at the bridge. just need our defence sorted out.
still pissed off with the yellow Masch picked up 2nd leg Real Madrid. Lucas is just never in the same mould as the monster.
the motivation of Masch and Torres to salvage the CL campaign might spark the team to do the impossible again.

Another great blog from [The Multi-Award Winning Blog; "We've won more trophies than Everton"]!
Yes, we must get back on track. Someone has said that the biggest/most important game is the next one. So the team must forget about the chavs game and focus on today’s. We must attack from the off, don’t even let them breathe.
So my prediction is LFC to win 5-0. Kuyt to score at the 3rd minute.
If we can’t score by the 4th minute, I promise I will not blame Lucas for it. I will continue to cheer the team on in the comfort of my couch. Heck, I have been cheering the team on since 30 years ago!

Very sad and my pride hurt to have lost out to Chelski at Anfield. We played well in the firsat half but our defence at set pieces have let us down again. How many times have we seen that in past seasons? Is this coming back to haunt us? Blackburn Rovers will surely take advantage of that, so we need to be careful. Anyway, I see us winning that 3-1, first goal on 58th Minute.
OK, it ain’t over yet. We have done Istanbul. But, realistically to expect to hit 3 at Stamford Bridge is very, very tough. This will be a real uphill battle. How about going 2-1-3-4 for once? Let’s see how Rafa will play it this time.

Good blog Gerry. I am strangely optimistic about the 2nd leg v Chelski. I think we can turn it around. Rafa will have on main plan to worry about, that is to attack and get 3. What i mean is he wont have to pick a team that can change in terms of startegy (ie if we hit the lead the team can turn into a tight compact game) as we have only one option.
Remember when Rafa picked that team in which aurelliou played in the middle, my money is he will go with something similar, one that none of us can predict.
Onto the EPL game. I predict 1-0 to the Reds. Goal in the 50th minute by Alonso

While I was certainly disappointed with the chelsea result, I do not think it was as awful a performance as people made it out to be. Aside from Skrtel, Reira, and Aurelio, who were frankly awful, the rest of the team played pretty well. Chelsea were simply excellent. Chelsea are a squad with a great deal of talent that have been consistently underachieving lately. The fact remains, however, that when they are at their best they are formidable opponents. Drogba in particular is oftentimes a diving bitch, but when he feels up for it, his strength and movement makes him one of the best strikers in the game.
Unfortunately, once we fell behind 2-1 the team seemed to enter a state of shock, and all play from that point on was exceptionally poor. That was the biggest disappointment. How many times have we fall on behind, only to dig our heels in and get a great result? Think of the Portsmouth game this year, when the team refused to quit.
And, yes, Hiddink had his team prepared to play, but I am tired of all this nonsense about how he exposed us and has laid forth the blueprint on how to beat us. Everyone has known that the key to beating us lies in eliminating Gerrard. Let us not forget that in the 2nd leg last yr, Avram Grant had Jon Mikel Obi mark Gerrard, and it worked magically then too. Teams have always striven to eliminate Stevie G to cut off Torres’ service, but it is much easier said than done.
I think that the primary issue last game was that we got cut up in our own hype. We came out and tried to take the game to Chelsea, showing the attacking prowess that has led to our recent offensive success. Unfortunately, that is not the way to succeed in the CL–especially without mascherano to protect our back 4! Normally in the CL we keep it very tight and defensive, pay attention to all the details, and try to nick a 1-0. This time, we tried to have a go, and we discovered that as good as our team is, we still have plenty of room for improvement. Our absolute top priority must be a classy winger in the Robben mould, who can consistently beat his man 1v1, that will give their defense something to think about, freeing up space for Torres and Gerrard. Reira is too hot and cold to be reliable.
As for today’s game, my money is on a 3-0 win, with Torres opening it up in the 67th minute.

Nice blog Gerry,
Ive been reading the excellent blogs for a while, but never felt compelled to contribute. But today I am deciding to live a little!!!
This will be a good test of where we are as a team. Good teams dont lose two important games in a row, and I am sure Rafa will drop anybody that are feeling sorry for themselves. Allardyce should be locked up for crimes against football, so I cant see it being a flowing expansive game. I can see it being a physical long ball game, so I can see Hyypia starting this one.
As for the Chelsea game, the season throws up a couple of these, and we have now been on both sides of them (Old Trafford demolition being the other one). Hard as it is to accept we just have to take it on the chin and say that they were the better side on the night. Carra has basically said that the league is the priority now, so I am under the impression, that the players dont feel that they can turn it around. So it wouldnt surprise me if we go through the motions on tuesday and play a few players that Rafa wouldnt normally play. We have the players do we have the belief?? A couple of goals and Chelski will get really nervous.
Anyway to the main event. Reds to get back on track with a 2-0 win.
Hyypia 40th min header, and Torres to make sure in the 70th.

Hi everybody. I am able to login after a long time. Some bloody problem with my modem. We are almost onto the Blackburn game and hence i suggest all you guys to remove Chelsea game from your minds as the gaffer told and concentrate on this game.
Spot on with the team most of you guys .
I expect Rafa to bench Gerrard due to his injusy concerns. The rest should be a normal eleven. Insua in place of Aurelio would have been my choice but since Gerrard too will be a substitute, we need a dead ball specialist with us in the team and hence Aurelio should play. Agger or Hyypia should take Skrtel’s position. We missed Mascher. Welcome back. We should play 4-4-2 if Gerrard is not playing. If he is, 4-2-3-1 will work fine.
I predict a 4-1 victory with the first goal coming from Kuyt 10 minutes into the game. Go you Reds!

I think the difference on wednesday was key players, Torres and Gerrard didn’t play well for us and Essian and Drogba did for them.
To be honest despite the amount of goals he has scored recently Gerrard hasn’t played as well as the press have made out for a little while now.
I have to agree with Gerry in as much as it was a combination of us not being on top of our game and Chavski being the best I have seen this season.
Todays match will be a serious test of character for whoever Rafa picks as the fat ugly one will try to have his troops kick ten tins of cat food out of us all game and we will need a good referee if we are to get anything out of this game.
It will not be easy and I predict a 2-0 win with one goal coming late in the first half and the other late in the second half with Torres to score both.

you have to say, that besides torres’ first, which could be a goal of the season, the best thing about today’s performance is that we didn’t let a completely non-footballing team bring us down to their level – which is what we’ve had trouble with against certain sides.
i have never seen such a pathetic attempt at playing the game. a center half as a striker, alone, with nothing but 80 yard passes into our box. even when it was 2-0, fat sam still leaves benni mccarthy on the bench…what an ass. he’s got no football mind. he should be a rugby manager.

Why does the gods always favour such an immoral team all the time? Ferguscum, mark my words, you can be lucky against teams like Sunderland once or twice, but you cannot be lucky ALL THE TIME.
Then again, I never expected Sunderland to be capable of doing anything, my hopes were more on Arsenal, Spurs and Man City.
Anyway, rather than worry about what the Scum does, for now we’ll do our part, and we certainly did today against Blackburn. The performance was exactly what the doctor ordered after the dismay performance against the Chavs on Wednesday.
The game also showed why Masch was so important to the squad, and how much we missed him. He was EVERYWHERE, breaking down Blackburn’s attacks and turning the game around. We’ll be needing him to neutralise fucking Essien in order to free up Gerrard if we’re to perform an Istanbul against the Chavs.
And finally, a tribute to the 96 that have tragically fallen 20 years ago in Hillsborough. I find it very, very touching that Steve Warnock personally held a wreath and lay it in front of the Kop in honour of them. Once a Red, always a Red. YNWA Warnock.
Also, YNWA to the 96. JUSTICE TO THE 96! If possible, we’ll beat the Chavs just for them!

Have read the blog, haven’t read the comments. Once again Old Nick rubs his hands together and waits to collect the sould he bought off the tramp back in 1990. He must becoming a nervous man. Payback time is drawing ever closer.
Sadly so is the end of the season. But let’s just wait and see. I’ve been preaching about twists and turns and strange results since it all started back in what seems a life time ago. So who knows?
Bolton can score 3. Sunderland can scare the shit out of The Others. So, who knows?

Before the match, my local fanclub held our own mini solemn Hillsborough memorial ceremony, explaining to the younger fans how Hillsborough affected the club and its culture as a whole.
We afterwards held a minute’s silence, which was respectfully observed. And then they even arrange flowers, where we all queued up to place one each on a makeshift memorial pedestal for the 96. Rest assured you won’t find any S*n rag readers amongst our lot on this part of the world.

Hey, Blackburn conceded two goals from set-pieces. Did anyone hear Andy Gray disparage the man-marking system? No? Well that’s because he didn’t make any mention of it. No mention of how badly zonal-marking worked today neither. Well that’s because it worked against BR’s corners and free-kicks. Funny that!
Agger has to retain is place for Tuesday, as does Insua. Such a cultured defender, who also scores. His goal celebration was class too. Too assists for Carra too. It has to be said that Blackburn were cack, so we mustn’t get too big for our boots again.

Insua is cup-tied for the Champions League as there wasn’t enough room to get him registered, thanks to Platini’s brilliant idea of placing a quota on “home grown players”. That was the reason why Sami was excluded for the group stage registration. It wasn’t until Robbie Keane left that Sami could be included again.

Its hard to be too critical of a 4-0 result, but in all honesty, I didn’t think our performance was all that great.
We made loads of unforced errors all over the park, the difference was, Blackburn didn’t have the quality to make us suffer for them in the way that Chelsea did.
How Riera stayed ont he field for 90 minutes is beyond me. The guy has gone from great signing to worst player on the pitch in lightning speed.
Don’t get me wrong, we didn’t need to be stellar and I’m sure the seemingly lacksadasickle approach to this game was due to wanting to save energy for what will be a monumental effort required on Tuesday, but as much as the result will bouy us, I think a slightly more solid overall performance would have bouyed us more.
Great return from Danny Agger. Nice to see.
Monster is just THE FUCKIN MAN!
and adjectives simply have not been created to describe Torres first goal.
To simply say it was/he is CLASS is just GROSS understatement of the highest order.

We missed Monster Masch in the Chelshit game.
The return leg should see how effective we can control the midfield with monster in the line up.
We have to surprise Hiddink and take the game to them. Going by form, Agger should be given a starting role along side Hyypia and Carra. Hyypia is valuable to deal with all the set pieces ( ours and theirs ) and he’s one of the best at reading the game. Carra and Agger should amply cover Hyypia for pace, with both ALonso and monster Masch further upfield protecting the backline. Agger also provides a much needed attacking game play, being able to do what he does so well… and another player we could make use of in set pieces to much effect.
Reina
Carra Hyypia Agger
Alonso Monster
I would like to play Insua but I feel we need to start with Riera attacking the left. Insua will be needed to defend our lead after the hour or so. I am still in doubt over who can actually attack from the right, all our right wingers seem to be more defensive except for maybe Nabil, if he is played out right.
I would like to play Bennayoun in a central attacking role, for the CHelshit game, alongside Stevie G. This move is not to cramp up the space but to counter the man-marking Essien role. Stevie G has to be allowed to play. He cannot and must not be marked out of the game. If he is too close to Essie, he should move elsewhere. WIth Bennayoun in the hole, criss crossing with Stevie G… Essien may not be able to follow Stevie G or even Bennayoun. Benny will then be our secret weapon.
Bennayoun Stevie Riera (Insua after 70 mins)
Torres Babel
I would like to see us attack from the word go… with anyone our frontline capable of creating and finishing moves… like above.
We need to take advantage of JT missing the game and attack through the centre, as well as splitting their defence with through balls (anyone including alonso and or defence) for both Torres and Babel have the speed and control to finish off.
I would also like to see Stevie G moving in and out of midfield, to the left and right, exhanging roles with Bennayoun as well as Riera who both can drift inwards and take on defenders. Stevie G will be more of a threat when he plays but he will hav problem playing if he is man marked. Stevei G will need to be un shackled and this can only be done if he moves away from Essien rendering Essien in effective like how we dealt when Makelele played. By pass the man.
ALthough some may argue that this seems too narrow and we will be exposed from the width, I would say at the rate both the Chelshit wingers are playing, we will have trouble from the width even if we do play our fullbacks there. I say, let Masch and Alonso drive them out wide, do not let them pass thru the centre. When they are out wide the only possible option would be to cross the ball in and Carra, Hyypia and Agger can deal with those balls all day long.
What I am saying is we need to focus on attacking first..and not defending at this point of time. Take the game to them and surprise them, scare the living shit out of them.
ANd I do believe, from a long time ago that we play our best with a 3 man central defence, our wingers/fullbacks to track the wings.
ALthough Chelshit played a good game, we are the masters of comebacks. the bridge will come crumbling down.
YNWA.
p/s Insua for Riera, defensive tactic
Kuyt for Babel – Kuyt moves out right and covers the wing and Skrtel for Bennayoun- pushing Carra and Agger into Fullback roles.

It is indeed a very emotional time for our great club, and the win yesterday was a must for many reasons.
Bolton have shown that Chelsea are vunerable at the back and can be got at. And that was WITH John Terry! Game on.
Masch and Agger. How good was it to have them two back? I had forgotten just how sweet a left foot Dagger has got, so he provided a stunning reminder yesterday. What a goal.
Torres will be scratching his head as to how he didn’t get a hat-trick, but his first goal was sublime.
Masch was all over the pitch, an absolute colossus.
Roll on Tuesday. I’m very confident.

I don`t think they`ll be as slack in there defending against us.
Thats not to say we don`t have a chance.Of course we do.If anyone can overturn this defecit its the red men.
Obviously its important to score first then that would sew the seed of doubt in their minds and there already shite atmosphere would turn even more subdude.
Its game on then,i know well need two more but what do the chavs do?Try to protect the lead?Dangerous tactic.
Go to kill the game?Playing right into our hands.

I have just listened to “Hillsborough stories” on radio 5 live, presented by Kelly Cates, Kenny Dalglish’s daughter.
There were interviews with Kenny, John Aldridge and some survivors of the disaster, including Mr & Mrs Hicks, who lost both of their daughters in the tragedy.
Among the interviews were survivors who told of what it felt like to experience and survive the horrors that will stay in the minds of Liverpool supporters always.
Kelly presented a very moving and emotional account of what happened on that terrible day, and
the way the police handled it and reacted to supporters as the tragedy unfolded was another tragedy in itself. As a Liverpool fan I
am not ashamed to say that I shed tears listening to what was being said. There will always be 96 voices missing from any Liverpool crowd. God bless them, every single one of them.
I won’t be at work on Wednesday, so it will e easier for me to hold my own private minutes silence in memory of 96 fellow Reds who paid with their lives following the team they love.
At 3.06 pm on Wednesday, I’m sure we will all remember them.

Happy easter all.i have to say i was pleasantly surprised with Aggers performance on saturday and i cant help wondering if we are moving into a more attacking era under Rafa if Agger should play as 1st choice.i understand that rafas 1st consideration when picking the team is that we dont concede any goals.but i think this policy holds us back Against the park the bus teams.i remember venables Once saying that the perfect team(in regards to their playing styles ie defensive or creative/attacking)should be 6 x bobby charltons and 5 jacks.our 6 bobbys are Torres/Gerrard/riera/benayoune/alonso/agger.and our 5 jacks are masch/carragher/aurelio/arbeloa/reina.obviously if we are playing the lesser teams like everton we can mix it up.but i think the balance should be tipped in favour of the attacking team against the better teams also i think kuyt on the right wing is not working against the best we need players who can do something extra special to win us the tight games btw That goal by Torres yesterday was as good as Vanbastens in 1988

It puts any game of football in some sort of perspective. 96 people went out to see a game and never ever came back home. Such a banal everyday thing to do. Ibrox, Heysel, Hillsboro .. right up to a couple of weeks ago in Africa .. It’s desperately sad. My heart goes out to anyone who reads this blog and who was personally affected by that and those sad wastes of life.

As I said last week, Agger is good enough to be turned into a midfielder-he has the height which we missed V the Chavs but the £ 4 mill signing fee he will get when he goes to Milan has turned his head.88 points is still possible but we look to be running out of games.Kuyt’s lack of goals is a scandal, 10 all season is a poor return. Why we were so terrible V Man City-those points dropped could haunt us.No need to risk SG tomorrow, keep him for the Prem games.

Burgerman – I don’t see where Agger is gonna fit in the midfield right now. In an ideal world, i.e with a fully fit and focussed Agger, he would be perfect to play at centre-half with Jamie or Skrtyl. He’s a natural footballing centre-half the likes of whom I have not seen since Hanson … though Jamie himself played 2 precise passes which led to goals on Saturday (as was commented on above). More’s the pity he (Agger)seems to be “not quite right” all season.

burgerman, no disrepect mate, but are you sure you are logging on to the right blog because every single time you comment, you come across as someone who has totally no clue or else anti-red. I have avoided specifying you directly but ever since you commented that Martin O’Neill is “showing the way” many weeks ago and implying that that bloke is a better manager than Rafa, I have had my doubts about you.
– “Agger is good enough to be turned into a midfielder”
And your point is??
–”he has the height which we missed V the Chavs but the £ 4 mill signing fee he will get when he goes to Milan has turned his head”
Err, relevance of logic between the two phrases, and also between your preceding sentence concerning Agger being good enough to be a midfielder??
–”Kuyt’s lack of goals is a scandal, 10 all season is a poor return”
Why is this so, please explain (but in a relevant blog, not this one).
–”Why we were so terrible V Man City-those points dropped could haunt us”
Why pinpoint the City game at this point? (and that is not a sarcasm, I am just baffled why you bring that game up)
I am sorry mate, but almost everything you say sounds like it is being constructed by the comments section from Sly sports.
And what was your point in bringing all of this up around Hillsborough time?

Hyde I think what Burgerman is refering to with Kyut is the volume of high profile grade A missed sitters the chap accounts for. And if i am not mistaken Burgerman’s one comment on Dirk Kuyt is not led Hyde to post that comment. He has made some amzaing ones in the past too.
I think we will be playing the following line up:

Masch Alonso

Digger, burgerman could have made that a lil later. As you said it has been an emotional week for all. I am not surprised at the attack on burgerman. Some of his comments are, lets just say, inept.
Why fight among ourselves now? We have a tougher fight on hand against the chav supporters. Are you guys not having trouble with Chav supporter? I am drawing a lot of flak from them. Hope we do well in SB.
My predictions: a 4-1 victory for the reds.
My team:
Reina
Arbeloa-Agger-Carragher-Aurelio(Pity Insua is not there for CL)
Alonso-Mascherano
Kuyt-Gerrard/Benny-Riera/Babel
Torres
If Gerrard is not fit, he should not be risked. He is more important to us in the Premier league than CL. If Essien is given to job of man-marking Gerrard again, it would be wise to play him on the right and Kuyt up front with Torres in a 4-4-2 formation. Go you Reds..

The first time i read Burgermans comment i thought he’s been listening to

Kuyt has got us 13 points with his goals this season and got us into CL against
Standard Leige .
If Dunne hadn’t handled the ball on the line we would have got 3pts against City.
Like i’ve said before its the points the Ref’s have cost us that may cost us this Year.
PS On another note my son’s team has just won his U10 League title with a

Fair enough 5yr, point taken. Hyde however I must disagree with. I’m not missing your point mate. Burgerman made points that are debatable and valid to him. You dismiss them as ‘clueless’ though and question his fanhood which is always the last stance taken by someone who has no counterpoint or valid arguement themselves – i.e ‘well if you think that you couldent be a red’ or ‘he must be a manc’. If you disagree then debate it with him, dont question his fanhood no? I’d expect more from you Hyde.

every team gets decisions against them so its not really relevant to look at it. that said, it seems the mancs have been favored by the FA for years in terms of almost all decisions on and off the pitch.
but specifically referring to our season’s fortunes, 3 points against city with dunne’s handball, and 3 points against stoke with the free kick goal that wasn’t offside… still, anything could have happened from those points onwards, but those are two goals that weren’t counted that could’ve won the games for us.
i dont know why i’m bothering mentioning, cause it doesn’t matter now. we have to take each game as it comes.
