After a last gasp Premier League opening day victory over Aston Villa, Rafa Benitez’s men turn their attentions to the aim of playing Champions League football this season with a tricky qualifying tie against French side Toulouse.
This Wednesday sees the Reds travel to South-West France for an afternoon kick-off (3.30pm BST) and the ambition to bring back a comfortable lead for Toulouse’s visit to Anfield two weeks later.
Benitez will have Sunday’s first home game of the season, against Chelsea, in mind and is expected to use his rotation policy to make several changes to the team which defeated Villa.
Winger Jermaine Pennant has been left in England while Peter Crouch, Yossi Benayoun and Javier Mascherano - who all missed the opening day match - are expected to start in France.
The match is live on Setanta Sports, kick off 3:30pm.
