One of the roads to Wembley begins all over again this Tuesday night when Liverpool entertain Crewe at Anfield in the third round of the Carling Cup.
Manager Rafael Benitez will name a weakened team for this League Cup tie with important games against Everton (Saturday) and PSV Eindhoven (next Wednesday) coming up.
Fringe players such as Lucas Leiva, Yossi Benayoun and David Ngog are expected to appear, as are new reserve keeper Diego Cavalieri, forgotten man Jermaine Pennant and youngsters Stephen Darby and Jay Spearing.
Manager Rafa Benitez has also hinted that young trio Emiliano Insua, Damien Plessis and Dani Pacheco - who have impressed in the reserves and during pre-season - will start the match.
