Loan Watch: Darren Potter
Written by Matt Ladson on February 10th, 2006

Reading 2-0 Southampton

Reds youngster Darren Potter started on the right of midfield for the Saints as they went to high flying Champions-elect Reading.

With Reading taking an early lead Potter had a slow start but Southampton enjoyed a good spell of possesion midway through the first half and Potter was at the heart of most of their good play - providing two pin point crosses, one of which was headed onto the post.

The Irishman looked composed and confident on the ball and his passing was assured.

A late free kick on the edge of the box was taken by the Kirkdale born 20 year old but was poorly executed over the bar. The fact he was given the free kick shows the confidence his team mates have in his ability.

Goals from Lita and Doyle gave the Royals the win and they are a few wins off automatic promotion already. A trip to the Madejski Stadium looms for Reds fans next season.
