Liverpool are in the European Cup Final for the second time in three years, having defeated Chelsea in the semi final again - this time on penalties after Daniel Agger’s first half goal levelled the tie at 1-1 on aggregate.

The final will take place in Athens, Greece on Wednesday May 23rd, the opponents could well be another repeat of the 2005 win as AC Milan face Man United on Wednesday having scored 2 away goals at Old Trafford last week.

There were heroes everywhere on another hugely memorable Anfield occasion. Daniel Agger scored the goal and wonderfully marshalled Didier Drogba out of the game, Steven Gerrard covered every blade of grass, Javier Mascherano was tireless and hard working, Dirk Kuyt ran his socks off at front - and scored the final penalty - and Pepe Reina saved 2 penatlies in the shoot-out.

But arguably Rafa Benitez, as cool and calm as ever was the hero - sitting cross legged at the side of the pitch as the penalties took place.
