CL Last 16: Who we can face
Written by Matt Ladson on December 12th, 2007

The Champions League group stages finished on Wednesday, with Man United and Arsenal confirming their places in the last sixteen - but Rangers fell at the last hurdle to Lyon.

With Liverpool having finished second in their group to Porto, the Reds will face a tough test in the next round against Italian or Spanish opposition.

Rafa Benitez’s side can be drawn with either Real Madrid, AC Milan, Barcelona, Inter Milan or Sevilla.

In-form Fernando Torres knows who he wants to meet in the first knockout stage:

“I hope that we draw Real Madrid, that would be a great tie. We have a chance to play a team from Spain or Italy, but playing Madrid would be really good,” he told LiverpoolFC.tv.

“It would be better to play a Spanish side than an Italian one, although it would not be bad to meet Milan and gain some revenge for the final last season.

” All the teams are strong and to finish second is not the best. But it is all the same really, as we know that the level will be very high.

“Sevilla in the Champions League have been strong and Madrid and Barcelona are teams that aspire to winning the whole competition.”

The draw is made a week on Friday (December 21st).

Liverpool will be at Anfield in the first leg on the 19th or 20th February 2008, and the return leg away will be on 4th or 5th March.
