Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks will attend tonight’s Champions League clash against Chelsea at Anfield, despite fears for his safety from angry Reds fans.

In his one year and two months as co-owener at Anfield, Hicks has become the villain on the inside with repeated lies and media propaganda tarnishing Liverpool Football Club’s name.

Tonight the American will sit just feet away from the fans and chief executive Rick Parry, who he has asked to resign, as Rafael Benitez’s team look to take a first leg lead in this semi-final clash.

It is thought Hicks is attending with his son, Foster Hicks, and the pair will also be bringing alongside representatives from the DIC.

The Merseyside Police confirmed Hicks’ attendance and safety concerns. A statement read, “We can confirm that advice has been given to Liverpool Football club regarding the attendance of the club’s owners.

“However, we are not in a position to discuss any individual’s safety. As with any other football event, the safety of those attending has been reviewed.

“Merseyside Police has deployed the appropriate number of police officers alongside stewards to tonight’s match.”

Kick-off at Anfield tonight is 7.45pm.
