Mancs agree deal for Liverpool target
Written by Matt Ladson on June 3rd, 2008

RamseyMan United have agreed a fee with Cardiff City for young midfielder Aaron Ramsey, a player Liverpool are believed to have bid for last month.

In fact, reports first surfaced about Liverpool’s interest in Ramsey a year ago, with a reported £1m+ then being turned down for the player who at the time had played just 1 minute of league football. Last July, Bluebirds chairman Peter Risdale said “Liverpool are the second Premiership team to put in a seven-figure bid for Ramsey, but he’s not for sale.” The other team was believed to have been Everton.

Last week The Guardian reported that Liverpool and Arsenal had had bids in the region of £5m turned down for the 17 year old Welshman.

Now, United have announced they have agreed a deal with Cardiff and only personal terms and a medical remain in order to complete the signature of Ramsey. The BBC reports the fee is in the region of £5m-6m. It has been suggested United may loan the player back to Cardiff next season to gain more first-team experience, and United have also allowed Cardiff to take reserve keeper Tom Heaton on loan for the season.
