Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano has been called-up to the Argentina squad for this month’s World Cup Qualifiers against Uruguay and Chile.
Mascherano, who won an Olympic gold medal this summer in Beijing is set to win his 43rd and 44th cap for his country when the internationals take place next week..
Yesterday four Reds were called up to the Spain squad for their World Cup Qualifiers against Estonia and Belgium. Alvaro Arbeloa, Fernando Torres, Xabi Alonso and Pepe Reina made squad, but there was no place for new winger Albert Riera.
Skipper Steven Gerrard is the only Liverpool player in Fabio Capello’s squad to play Kazakhstan and Belarus on October 11th and 15th respectively.
