Monday’s News Round-up
Written by Max Munton on January 28th, 2008

Early in the afternoon Liverpool were drawn a home tie against Championship side Barnsley in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Anfield will host the game against the Tykes on the weekend of the 16th and 17th of February. Click here for more on the fifth round draw.

Momo Sissoko’s move to Juventus looks imminent after reports in Italy suggested the Reds midfielder was in Turin over the weekend negotiating a four year contract with the Serie A outfit.

Sissoko, who is currently on international duty with Mali in the African Nations Cup, is set to leave Liverpool for around £8.2million. More on this story can be found here.

John Arne Riise’s agent Jan Kvalheim has denied speculation linking the Norweigan left-back with a move away from Liverpool during this January transfer window.

Riise has been linked with moves to several clubs after an off-colour season at Anfield including Aston Villa and Newcastle United.

But Kvalheim said, “There are probably a lot of teams thinking about making a bid. But nothing will happen. He has one and a half years left on his contract.

“It hasn’t been an issue or important that he is sold in the transfer window - it is only journalists in England and Norway that are speculating.”

Dirk Kuyt believes Liverpool have what it takes to go all the way in this season’s FA Cup.

Beating non-league side Havant and Waterlooville on Saturday took the Reds one step closer to Wembley.

Kuyt says, “I think we can go all the way in the FA Cup and we have the quality to beat every team.

“We have to just focus on ourselves and believe in ourselves. I think we have got great quality in the team. Even though we are not playing our best football at the moment I think we will soon be back to our best.

“Last year we lost to Arsenal in the third round which was disappointing. This season we have beaten Luton Town and Havant and Waterlooville. We will see what happens but we have to be ready for every team.”
