There’s not much to shout about in this morning’s papers as Liverpool eagerly await the Champions League draw later this morning. And judging from our recent domestic results, there’s not much to shout about anyway. For some reason, the back pages are dominated with stories on some tournament called “the UEFA Cup” – still doing that then are they, Moyes? Oh, and a lot on how the England cricket team are utter crap. Some things never change…

All the same, this morning’s Mirror claims that midfielder Momo Sissoko is unhappy at his lack of first team chances (how about Wednesday, Momo, when you did naff all?) at Anfield and could be tempted to leave in January.

Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri will make a move for Liverpool’s unsettled midfielder Mohamed Sissoko in January.

Sissoko wants showdown talks with Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez after struggling to hold down a regular place.

That has alerted Juventus and Inter Milan.

The Telegraph reports that the £350million loan club owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett have taken out to finance the new stadium will not delay work on the new 70,000 seater.

Tom Hicks and George Gillett, Liverpool’s American owners, have had to delay a £350 million loan needed to fund the new stadium until 2009.

However, according to the club, plans for the construction of the Stanley Park ground will not be affected as the loan used to buy the club in February will be re-financed.

However writer Patrick Nathanson comments on how some Reds fans are worried the Hicks/Gillett dream team could turn into another Glazer-esque nightmare.

Liverpool fans remain concerned at the possibility that Hicks and Gillett might follow in the footsteps of the Glazers at Manchester United and use the club to shoulder some of the new debt, despite the promises of the American duo at the beginning of the year.

Incidentally, the draw for the second round of the Champions League takes place later this morning at 11am. Liverpool are amongst the second seeds after finishing behind FC Porto in the group stage.
