Baros brace sinks Reds

Milan Baros scored twice as Liverpool suffered defeat in a pre-season friendly against Turkish side Galatasaray on Thursday night.

Goals from Baros and former Bolton player Johan Elmander gave the hosts a 3-0 win over a Liverpool side without 13 first-team players.

While the scoreline appears worrying, especially on the back of the 3-0 defeat to Hull on Saturday, the most concerning factor is that the Reds’ have conceded 3 goals in all four pre-season games thus far.

If the idea was to put the likes of Christian Poulsen, Phillip Degen and Joe Cole in the shop window, there won’t be many managers rushing to put in bids on the back of this performance!

Kenny Dalglish reflected afterwards “I think the benefit is it’s another game. They looked a bit sharper than us and are maybe a wee bit ahead of us. Their season was due to start but I think it’s been put back for a number of days.”

The Reds face Valarenga on Monday, before hosting Valencia at Anfield on Saturday before the season beings the week later. Expect to see the likes of Reina, Carragher, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson, Adam, Downing and Henderson all in action.
