Liverpool signed Nabil El Zhar from St Etienne in October 2006. Since then, Nabil has featured frequently for the reserve side. He has played at right wing, left wing and behind the striker in the reserves where he has looked good and talented under the guidance of reserve coach, Gary Ablett.

Although he is French born, he has decided to represent Morocco. He has represented his country a few times scoring 2 goals along the way at a very young age.

In his first start against, Cardiff in the carling cup, El Zhar scored a 25-yard rocket that flew into the net. [Match Report] He was tipped to be starting or featuring in a few matches in preseason but injuries has hampered his preparations.

El Zhar came on as a substitute in the 0-0 draw in the champions league qualifier against Standard Liege and did well under the circumstances. He added pace and drive to the dire display.

El Zhar has been awarded the number 31 shirt for the 2008/2009 season.
