England international Glen Johnson was officially unveiled as a Liverpool player on July 9th 2009, having signed for a reported £17.5m fee from Portsmouth.
Speaking at his first press conference Johnson explained his desire to move to Liverpool rather than return to Chelsea, who were also interested in signing him.
Johnson made his competitive debut against Tottenham on August 16th 2009, winning a penalty early in the first half and impressing with some attacking runs and solid defending.
