Player Profile: David Ngog

David Ngog signed for Liverpool from PSG in July 2008 for a reported fee of 1.5M. Ngog is the cousin of Jean-Alain Boumsong.

For PSG, Ngog scored just 1 goal in 18 games in the league. This stastitic gives you a misleading image of his qualities as he was a substitue for most of the games and PSG had a dissapointing time in the league last year with the strikers having minimal service which resulted in his lack of goals.

His International form however, has been great. He has scored 5 goals in 6 appearances for the under 16s, 2 in 6 for the under 17s and 3 in 3 dor the under 19s including 2 against England.

Ngog stated that he belives he could become great under the guidence of his ‘˜role model’ Fernando Torres. Benitez also shares the views saying:

‘œHe can play as a target man, he has quality. He can keep the ball and pass it, and he has good movement. He can also give a lot to us now as well as in the future.’

Ngog has so far played in 3 preseason matches and has scored 2 goals against Rangers and Valerenga. Fans are yet to make a proper judgement on the players as yet until they see more of him but the early signs are promising.

Ngog hos been awarded with the number 24 shirt for the 2008/2009 season.
