Welsh forward Craig Bellamy signed for Liverpool on July 1st 2006 after agreeing a six million pound move from Lancashire rivals Blackburn Rovers. The former Newcastle striker had a clause in his Rovers contract which allowed him to move to a team in the Champions League for the lower-than-market-value price.
He made his debut in the pre-season friendly at Wrexham on July 15th, and scored a volley to start off his career on the right note.
The controversial player has been blighted with off the field problems throughout his career but Reds fans are hopeful his pace and with Rafa Benitez‘s leadership he can go on to add another chapter in the Anfield history books alongside former Welsh favourites Ian Rush and John Toshack.
