Isreal Captain Yossi Benayoun arrived at Anfield in July 2007, for a fee believed to be £5million.

Benayoun caught the eye after some outstanding performances for fellow Premier League team West Ham United, not least in the 2006 “Gerrard” FA Cup Final, where Benayoun’s clever interplay helped The Hammers score 3 goals against a mean Liverpool defence. During his time with West Ham, Yossi scored 8 goals in 63 apperances.

Benayoun, who likes to play behind the striker, has settled down well into Liverpool life. Despite not being considered a regular at Anfield he managed an impressive 11 goals last term in only 15 starts, including two hat-tricks against Besiktas and Havant & Waterlooville.

During the 2008 transfer window, Benayoun was linked with a move to clubs including Manchester City, Portsmouth and Roma but Yossi has pledged his allegiance to the Liverpool cause, expressing his desire to remain at Anfield for the rest of his career.
