Neil Mellor

A prolific goalscorer at youth and reserve level Sheffield born Mellor left the club aged 23 on August 30th 2006 after several seasons on the verge of making a first team break through but never fully doing so.

He left with two massive Liverpool career highlights; his part in the comeback vs Olympiakos in 2004 and his stunning strike vs Arsenal in November of the same year to give the Reds a 2-1 victory at Anfield.

Mellor signed for Preston North End in the Championship to seek regular first team football and an end from his injury nightmare which had plagued his Liverpool career.
