Other team news/facts:

  • Jamie Carragher returns after sitting out the match against Manchester City after receiving his 5th yellow card this season. Daniel Agger looks the likely man to step out of the starting XI to make room for him.
  • The Reds could overtake Manchester United and claim second place with a win today…but would have two game in hand over United.
  • Liverpool have only conceded 1 goal in nearly 1000 minutes at home, and only 5 total this season (4 of those against Chelsea!)

One to watch:

Liverpool: Peter Crouch. After scoring his first international goal for England, look out for Big Pete in the penalty box.
Charlton: Darren Bent. Another first for an England striker last night: making his first international cap. Bent is pacy and could cause some trouble in the final third.

“I was pleased to see Crouch score his first goal for his country as all strikers like to score goals, and it’s good for him as well as good for us.”

-Rafa Benitez on his gangly striker Peter Crouch.
“Gerrard can make things happen from so many different areas of the pitch that you can’t really designate methods to stop him

-Charlton boss Alan Curbishly on Steven Gerrard, who was injured for this season’s reverse fixture.
“Obviously my injury is different to Djibril’s but it’s true to say that the way he came back from his problems is an inspiration for any footballer.

-Bolo Zenden, recovering slowly but surely from injury, reveals his admiration for Cisse in the way he came back from a broken leg last year.
