England defender John Terry has praised Jamie Carragher’s performances during the two games that he has stepped into the England team to replace the injured Gary Neville at right-back.
Speaking ahead of England’s World Cup Secon Round clash against Ecuador on Sunday afternoon, the Chelsea defender spoke of England’s defensive frailties against Sweden, but was quick to sing the praises of the boy from Bootle.
He said, “The boys who have come in have done very well. Carra did brilliantly when he came in.
“We have done a few set plays and worked on free kicks and I’m certain what happened against Sweden won’t happen again.”
However Carragher is set to be dropped for tomorrow’s game with Owen Hargreaves being preferred to him as manager Sven Goren Eriksson tries out a 4-5-1 formation.
