Sevilla demand £8m for Alves

Spanish side Sevilla have told Liverpool that they will sell defender Daniel Alves if they can meet their asking price ‘“ believed to be around £8million.

It is thought that Liverpool have tabled a bid of just over £6million for the highly rated Brazilian defender, but have now been told that they must up their bid to sign him.

Benitez has long admired Alves and has expressed his desire to bring him to Anfield this summer. The 23-year-old caught the attention of several clubs with an impressive UEFA Cup Final performance this year.

Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido said, “We’re already talking big money but Sevilla don’t want to lose Daniel.

“He has let us know the offer from Liverpool is the most important. But he has not put pressure on us and we don’t have a harsh relationship with him.

“Liverpool have not yet made us an offer which is acceptable. Until they meet our asking price, there’s no deal.”
