Liverpool will travel to Bramhall Lane to face Premiership newcomers Sheffield United in the opening game of the season, due to be played August 19th but potentially will be moved to the day after when Sky release the fixtures they will be televising.
United’s controversial boss Neil Warnock says he is looking forward to the clash, the last time the two sides met was in the Carling Cup semi-final three years ago – with Neil Mellor scoring in a defeat at the Lane, but Diouf and Owen goals at Anfield sent the Reds to the final – where they beat Man United 2-0.
The first home game comes a week after on August 26th, with FA Cup runners-up West Ham the visitors, that’s followed by the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park (9th September) and then another huge match a trip to Stamford Bridge (16th).
The festive period sees matches with Watford (home, 23rd), Blackburn (away, 26th), Spurs (away, 30th), Bolton (home, 1st Jan).
The last two fixtures are Fulham away and Charlton at home.
