Let’s all do the samba

Liverpool will be rocking to a new beat this coming season, with a Brazilian, a Chilean and an Argentinian adding their South American flare to Rafa Benitez’s ever developing squad.

Argentinian centre back Gabriel Paletta arrives on a free from Banfield, and is expected to provide good cover for Hyypia and Carragher, along with January signing Daniel Agger, the two of them could end up being the Reds new back line in years to come.

Chilean left winger Mark Gonzales was signed a year ago, but had to be loaned out to Real Sociedad in La Liga where he has continued to impress whilst awaiting a work permit. The pacy 21 year old is expected to be in contention for a starting place on the left, or even right, of the new look Liverpool midfield, providing healthy competition for Harry Kewell.

Left back Fabio Aurelio, a 26 year old Bosman signing from Valencia, played a key role in Rafa’s success in Spain and has arrived again to give good cover and competition for the left side. The Brazilian has a handy left foot and can take a pretty impressive free kick. Some fans who have seen him play at the Mestalla believe he will take the left back spot from Riise this season.
