D-Agger blow for Rafa

Defender Daniel Agger has broken his hand on international duty for Denmark on Wednesday night in their 4-0 win over Lichenstein. He will miss the home match with Blackburn this Saturday and will have a cast on for four to five weeks, although he could play with a lightweight cast on. After an impressive start to the season which saw him receive the PFA September player of month award, its a big blow for the Reds.

Agger is the second Red to pick up an injury in international duty this week, with Dirk Kuyt facing two weeks out with an ankle injury sustained for Holland on Saturday.

Agger and Kuyt are both set to miss Saturday’s Premiership match at home to Blackburn, while Agger could miss Bordeaux in the Champions League and Man United in the league.

Benitez spoke earlier in the week at the frustation of club players picking up injuries for their countries and how clubs should be compensated, the news of Agger’s injury will further strenthen his beliefs.
