Babel hails fans in Euro success

Liverpool midfielder Ryan Babel has praised the passionate support Liverpool fans gave to the team to spur them on to a dramatic 4-2 victory over Arsenal in the Champions League last night.

In yet another special European night at Anfield, Liverpool fell behind early on to Arsene Wenger’s men. But the Reds fans never gave up singing as the team went on to pull the game back and go through to the competition’s semi-final.

Babel, who scored Liverpool’s fourth in injury time, said, “The fans pulled us to another level. It’s the same in all the big games, like against Everton and Inter. It’s like playing with 12 men.”

Manager Rafa Benitez was also quick to thank the fans for the part they played in Tuesday night’s success.

He said, “It’s always important for us to play in front of our supporters and you could hear from the start of the game, they were amazing and massive for the players.”
