How the ‘Fields of Anfield Road’ was put together

The charity single Fields of Anfield Road, dedicated to the memory of the 96 Liverpool fans who lost their lives in the Hillsborough tragedy 20 years ago this week, enters the UK charts on Sunday.

The song was put together by local Liverpudlian musicians and supported by former players. But the original idea was the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Steve Rotherham’s.

To listen to how the single was created and hear the men behind the record, listen to the first of our special Hillsborough Memorial podcasts, online now.
