Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has been quick to play down speculation linking Argentine international midfielder Javier Mascherano with a move away from Anfield this summer.
Benitez confirmed that a club have shown their interesting is taking Mascherano from the Reds, but insists he is going nowhere.
He told press, “Javier is happy here with the fans, the club and the manager. I have had a very positive conversation with him.
“He has already said no to one club, a good side. He wants to stay but he cannot stop big clubs asking about him.”
Earlier today, Mascherano told Sky Sports, ‘œI can’t say anything bad about Liverpool as a city or as a club because they were great with me but obviously you never know what is going to happen because if some club can come here with a good offer and the club say ‘˜ok you have to go’ then I will leave – you don’t know.’
