Sammy Lee charged by FA

Liverpool assistant manager Sammy Lee has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association over his actions during the second half of the Reds’ 2-1 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday.

Lee was animated on the touchline as Liverpool sank at White Hart Lane and was eventually sent to the stands by referee Phil Dowd for persistent protests to fourth official Stuart Atwell.

Lee was furious when Dowd had waved on two late penalty claims including a blatant push on striker Andriy Voronin by Spurs defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto.

He now has until Wednesday, 26th August to answer the charges.
