In amongst the reports and celebration photographs of Spain’s triumph over Holland in the World Cup Final last night, the press are well on their way to creating a transfer speculation frenzy.
This morning reports say that Reds’ Moroccan winger Nabil El Zahr is ready to end his four year stay at the club, frustrated at a lack of first team opportunities.
“I want to leave Liverpool,” El Zhar told the Moroccan media. “I do not play often enough”.
Elsewhere, Emiliano Insua is nearing an Anfield exit as well with talks said to be underway for the Argentine left-back to join Serie A giants Fiorentina.
Reports over the weekend suggested that new Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is eyeing the chance to sign ex-Reds striker Peter Crouch from Tottenham. But will the lure of Champions League football at White Hart Lane be too strong to tempt the 29-year-old England international back to Merseyside?
Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Dutch World Cup runner-up Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who is thought to be looking for a way out of AC Milan, who he joined a year ago.
The 26-year-old striker scored one goal in four games at this year’s World Cup Finals and has hinted that a move to the Premier League would suit him.
And finally, Fernando Torres will now meet with new Liverpool boss Hodgson for the first time to discuss his future at the club. The World Cup winner was pictured with the World Cup trophy and a Liverpool scarf draped around his shoulders on Sunday night in Johannesburg.
